Tax hikes in Illinois!

I am surprised as all hell about this! Not necessarily the tax hike but how they did it. I am also surprised no one started this thread as soon as it became news. If I was a resident of IL I would be outraged. My bags would be packed and gone. Now this is a crime. Sneak and rush this thru before the new members arrive. State income tax on individuals will rise from 3% to 5% and corporate taxes will rise from 4.8% to 7%.

What kills me is that very few services or programs seem to get cut. There has got to be some fat in state budgets! We had to know that the states would end up in trouble when federal aid got reduced and unemployment shot up though. State and federal wages and pensions have begun to easily exceed the private sector, and I feel they need to cut these to better reflect what the rest of us are forced to accept. These increases are preserving their lifestyles from the sweat off of our backs.

GA has cut their budget 22% over the last 18 months....guess what, nothing has changed. Everything is rocking and rolling just like it was pre-2008.

They are calling for 12% more across the board for FY 2011.

I hope they continue to cut.

GA owns 9 state golf courses that loose millions each year. We own public shooting ranges that cost nothing to use. We continue to subsidize the cost of keeping boat ramps and camp grounds open. Until those are self supporting or closed we haven't cut enough.

I've seen multiple people planning to leave Il over this on other sites.

Spending money I don't have on crap I don't need to impress people I don't know.
