Question about Jury Duty

I got a letter yesterday with a questionaire to be filled out by me
and returned within 10 days to the US District Court in Ft. Smith Ar.

First off, I have been on jury duty several times but have not been
picked to be on a jury itself. ( In our local town )
Also I have no problem being on a jury, But Ft. Smith is about 120
mi. from my house? Is this a normal thing to have prospective
jurors travel that far?
Oh, BTW jurors get 40.00 a day plus mileage.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Question about Jury Duty

That seems excessive but I have never been selected for jury duty.

Re: Question about Jury Duty

Arksas only has two districts, east and west, correct? I would imagine they have to draw from a fairly large pool in order to keep the juries fresh and a good cross section.

Re: Question about Jury Duty

I was called for Jury Duty by the Federal Court in Alexandria Va several years ago.. I had to call in to a recording once a week and it would tell me if I needed to attend.. My "number" came up the last week of duty, they told me where to park (all pay lots in area, one lot free if you show jury papers) Then hung around the "jury room" eating do-nuts and drinking coffee (on the taxpayers dime) then into court, dismissed and sent home.. enjoy your day..

BTW.. check ahead about what is and is not allowed in.. here no knives of any type (even little ones on a money clip, NONE) and no, NONE, no cell phones or cameras.

Re: Question about Jury Duty

I was called for jury duty in larimer county this year, i live in weld county but work in larimer...anyways i was selected as 1 of the 11 people to be part of the jury, before the trail started the judge told us about the stipulations and if you dont live in the county the trial is in your automatically ineligible.

Dont know if that is your issue or not dont know much about texas. I stay away from there at all costs.

Re: Question about Jury Duty

Just tell them that you are racist, sexist against both men and women, or make up some BS like that. Make it sound like you won't give a fair judgement, and they will never select you. Just tell them that you will give a guilty decision just for them wasting you time lol.
