Man sentenced to death in gruesome Conn. home invasion

Man sentenced to death in home invasion - U.S. news - Crime & courts - msnbc.com

Quote:
NEW HAVEN, Connecticut A man who said he was "tormented" by his crimes was sentenced to death on Thursday for the killings of a woman and her two daughters in a gruesome 2007 home invasion.

Steven Hayes apologized just before New Haven Superior Court Judge Jon Blue pronounced the sentence that had been recommended last month by a jury that convicted him.

"I am deeply sorry for what I have done and the pain I have caused," Hayes said. "My actions have hurt so many people, affected so many lives, caused so much pain. I am tormented and have nightmares about what happened in that house."
The guy has been found guilty by a jury, sentenced to death and appologized for what happen (essentially admitting).

There should be no appeals, well maybe one just to be sure, but this guy should be dead in less than 5 years.

Who disagrees and why?

Re: Man sentenced to death in gruesome Conn. home invasion

I wish after these sort of cases they would march the guilty outside the courthouse and hang them right then and there on live television.

I really feel that the great deal of time that lapses in death penalty cases between the crime and the punishment really makes it seem like an unlikely punishment and therefore does not allow it to work as a deterent at all. I truly believe that if you turned on your news every night and you saw people getting hanged that it would actually prevent a lot of people from behaving irrationally and commiting these crimes in the first place.

It would also be less expensive and make prisons a much safer place for the guards and other inmates. Who knows, maybe prison could be an actual place for rehab for those that have a chance, someday way off in the future.

I'm officially...Stroke-less.

Gonna have to put me in that camp.

I say put him away for life............ with absolutely no chance of parole.

Not to say that there should be a big effort to keep things away from him....... that he could commit suicide with however.

.

Never have so many politicians, screwed so many Americans...just to make one black person lose his job.

Why?

Why put him away for life? I have to understand this train of thought.
