Two former transportation secretaries who recently co-chaired a panel that proposes gas tax hikes and user fees to pay for government transportation projects joined President Obama Monday as he called for a $50 billion immediate investment in roads, rails and runways.

And while the president has not endorsed the proposals by ex-officials Norm Mineta and Samuel Skinner, some industry experts insist gas prices will have to rise to pay for the grand plans.
Norm Mineta was the longest serving Secretary of Transportation in history.

Under George Bush.

Sam Skinner served under G.H.W. Bush.

And your point is Rick. Guess what they didnt propose those hikes under either Bush IIRC If they did they were shot down.

The point is your boy Obama cant resist a way to raise taxes

Rick, I don't care who worked for who.. I think you know that I don't blame one person for everything.. What I do know is, we are in a mess that's getting worse by the day.. It's pretty clear to me at this point that Obama does not have the capability to turn things around. You know that if I thought he was doing something right I would give him credit for it..

I personally never had faith that any president or presidential candidate could single handedly turn things around. It takes the entire government moving in the same direction to really enact changes. Problem is, our government is preoccupied with being embroiled in political disfunction. They would rather point fingers across the isle rather than reach out with helping hands and working together.

In looking at the upcoming elections... I see nothing in the works that would change the status quo. Republicans and democrats are still using the same old tactics, and the Tea Party is quick to point fingers and place blame, but offers little to no alternative solutions.

I'm tired of the childish games in Washington. Heck, as the article pointed out, the current funds collected from fuel taxes are basically a political "slush fund". It's no wonder they're running out of money for infrastructure and want to find other methods for increasing revenues.

I agree with you.

And that was my point.

Everyone wants to blame only the current guy.......when it took a long time to get here and the POTUS has less to do with it than most people realize.

And yes Mark, I know you're pretty fair.
