While I agree with your points, what are you proposing we do about it then? Don't you agree it is time we do something?
Definitely Matt, we can do something, and we should do something. No doubt about it. I just think some of the approaches proposed and some already in place aren't working and won't work.
First step though is not living in constant fear. Building a wall around our country is nothing more than fear mongering. I personally refuse to live in constant fear, afraid of illegals, afraid of terrorists, and praying that our government builds a wall to "protect" us. To me, that's just not a logical solution.
As for the problem with terrorists, that will not go away easily, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. We have foreign terrorists, and we have domestic terrorists. Foreign terrorists have crossed at the Mexican border, at the Canadian border, have come on boats and ships, and have even flown into this country legally on commercial flights. So there's really no way to stop a determined terrorist from getting in this country if they really want to. They have so many options, and a wall won't do any good. What we have yet to address as a country is WHY they are so hell bent on getting into this country and blowing something up. Why aren't the same terrorists stopping in Mexico and blowing things up?
I don't have a definite answer for that. There are many theories out there, many of which might be very valid, but it seems that we as a nation don't have the want to publicly ask the question "why", nor address the "why" with other nations either. Yes there are many terrorist groups in existence all over the world, but why do they want to target the U.S? Knowing the answer to that question will help us to better combat terrorist getting into our country and wrecking havoc.
