Who here belongs to the NRA?

Let me warn you they are not looking out for your best interest. The worst thing that could happen to the NRA is for the American people to have their 2nd Amendment rights fully restored.

We have been working in GA, a group called Georgia Carry.org (GCO), to relax and clarify many laws. Several were from the Jim Crow era and some were so confusing that the AG, DAs, police nor the public could interpret them. We have worked for months to have SB308 & SB291 passed.

SB291 passed on Wednesday. There were rumors the NRA was fighting this but no one saw anything. Last night (Thursday 4/29) was the last night to have anything passed. SB308 came out of Committee and to the floor. The NRA went nuts.

The NRA did their best to kill this bill in Committee and then prior to the vote in the state house. Our Lobbyist, President, Lead Attorney and a host of other GCO staff witnessed and had to deal with the wake the NRA made while attempting to derail legislation in GA that would further restore the rights of Georgians.

SB308 does the following;

*removes the knife restriction for licensed gun carriers. One was licensed to carry a pistol concealed but dare not carry a knife concealed
*clarifies our crazy and confusing public gathering law. No lawyer, Georgia AG included, could decipher exactly what a public gathering was or was not. This was a Jim Crow era law that could be applied at random at will. We now will have an off limits list. Very precise
*removes the "affirmative defense" clause of our carry license laws
*gives bar owners private property rights
*removes the 1000 foot barrier from schools (one could already enter the school zone if "conducting lawful business" but the police will harass and arrest)
*removes the LIFE TIME disqualifier due to a marijuana conviction (if one was convicted of possession as a minor this was a life time disqualifier), it will now be a 5 year disqualifier

The NRA tried to derail the Heller vs. DC case and are trying to derail McDonald's case against Chicago.

Please, do your research prior to supporting the NRA. They are one big compromise and are only looking out for their massive organizations best interest NOT YOURS!

My post missinformation?

I saw their tactics first hand. This is MY account of the situation.

First, it just looked like a form email that you had posted, I didn't see where it had said you were there. So what points were they fighting? Is there anything in the bill that wouldn't be good for average person?

They were trying to kill the entire bill. I am not sure what their points of contention were / are.

What part of this don't you understand...

The NRA is the BIGGEST lobbying group for gun owners. They have to pick their fights carefully.
