cause bush was a ***sy and the Dems are trying to save their ass. We should be drilling anywhere we can. Other countries have explored as close to 90 miles off Florida's coast. Either we drill or noone drills.

Leave it to the Dems to reject a good idea only to embrace it when it favors them

You can't have everything....where would you put it?

It is just a ploy. 10 yrs of studies, battles in courts, so he can say he supports it and help him get something else passed. Obama IMO is a terrible President, but I do have to give him credit, he is a good leader of sheep and great snake oil salesman.

Re: So What Was The Issue When This Was The Republicans' Idea?

Dems finally woke up to the fact that there is not much you can do to controll oil prices if you don't try to compete in the market. This will also create some new jobs. The dems master plan to create jobs, borrow all that money and haven't created one new job. Now the one thing they were dead against (and republicans were for). They turn to to try to help the economy. Plus the fact they will make a pile of money on taxes and leases. I am sure the people will see that money lmao.

The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but becase of the people who do nothing about it.

You will be banned for using a Republican line on a Democrat. Wait I have that backwards Palin was for the bridge before she was against it.

Maybe it is ok to be wishywashy on something if your a Democrat, but not a Republican. Sounds like another it applies to the Republicans, but not the Democrats.

Nevermind, I'm all confused trying to use logic again.

Re: So What Was The Issue When This Was The Republicans' Idea?

So how long has the offshore drilling bans been in place and how many administrations and Congress' are we talking about?

Offshore Ban History (click here)

Quote:
Due largely to a spill from an oil platform off the coast of Santa Barbara 1969, California was the first state to have its coastal waters come under a ban on leasing activities by the Minerals Management Service for oil and gas exploration and development. By the 1980s oil and gas drilling began appearing as ballot issues in California with many coastal communities passing zoning ordinances that prohibited the onshore support facilities for drilling operations. These ballot issues culminated in the State enacting an permanent ban on drilling in California waters not already covered by existing leases.

In 1982, Congress passed legislation that prevented the MMS from including unleased areas (“pre-leasing” ban) in future 5-Year Lease Programs in California only. In 1983, this pre-leasing ban was extended to the North Atlantic and in 1988 the first drilling ban was enacted that covered the Gulf of Mexico. In 1990, President George H. Bush, citing the National Research Council findings and concerns about preserving the ocean and coastal environment, supplemented the existing moratorium by prohibiting offshore leasing or pre-leasing activities in areas covered by the legislative ban until 2000. 1990 also saw enactment of the Outer Banks Protection Act (later repealed) that specifically prohibited leasing activities in North Carolina’s OCS area. In 1998, President Clinton extended the moratorium to 2012.
So we're all for giving Bush credit for starting the process (and rightfully so) but............................. there is still a need to pillory Obama for actually making it happen?

C'mon guys, even y'all should be able to see how one-sided that is.

Never have so many politicians, screwed so many Americans...just to make one black person lose his job.
