It will never fly for two reasons, first it makes to much sense, second it doesn't give the gov't more power over the people

Entrepreneurs and their small enterprises are responsible for almost all the economic growth in the United States.

Re: Health care reform that makes sense

We have a HSA. It works well. Most yrs we have a lot left over. Last yr we spent it all but the wife broke her leg at the ankle & needed surgery to fix it. We have BCBS with a $5000 deductible for $500 a month. Not bad for 2 adults age 50 & 56. The HSA option should be offered to everyone.

Dave.......that article is from Fox news. That immediately makes it suspect and a bogus idea.

Please refrain from such biased news sources.

I agree with a lot of that article. Personally I think that reform #3 (the HSA idea) should be expanded even more. For instance, the limit for a single person HSA contribution per year is only $3000. By comparison, insurance coverage for an individual can easily cost more than double that per year in premiums paid each month. If we up the limits on HSA's considerably, they will be much more attractive for a majority of Americans. In addition, this reduces the need for insurance, and individuals can purchase high deductible plans with very low premiums if they so choose. This cuts out the middle man insurance companies for most doctor visits, and promotes competition, quality of service, and expands choices for consumers.

Also if people are responsible for their own healthcare, it will promote healthier lifestyles for individuals. Live healthy and take care of yourself, and you reduce your healthcare spending and increase the money in your own personal HSA. Most people can reduce spending enough to build up their HSA accounts, and some can even drop insurance altogether.

But as it was already mentioned, it makes too much sense for Washington

Re: Health care reform that makes sense

HSAs can solve a many of our health care problems. I get 25% cuts from my doctor by paying cash. I ask every octor I see about a price cut for paying cash & most are willing to work with you. The doctors will do this instead of waiting months for ins companies to pay up. I shop for my meds & buy wisely. If the HSAs limit was raised I could only use my ins for major injuries. Most people could do this & cut their ins cost way down. Our idiots running things in Washington know this but want control over whats right for the country. Control is what the Obamacare issue is about, not cutting healthcare cost.
