Yep, we have relatives and friends in BC that tell us about it every chance they get. Free dos NOT equal better. Quality > Quantity.

I live in Alberta. I have no complaints about wait times... if it is important it is done chicken louie.. if it isnt life threating you might,, might have a small wait.. but I am ok with that, cause it never, ever costs me anything... our system works guys,, trust me I know, I have had to deal with it either for myself or my family more than an average person should have to... it is a great system

Its true, not one dime, because our province is debt free, they cover it out of oil royalties,, we also dont pay any provincial taxes. Even in the rest of Canada the most you will pay is about 45 a month per person (and this even can be less depending on your wages).

I wasnt around when our system first came in, but I do know this, they have it tuned pretty good now, and it works well...

To bad the same bottle of scotch here is $40 and has to be bought from the gov't in Canada and it costs $60. Trust me nothing is free you pay one way or another no matter what smoke they try to blow up your butt. I just went with the scotch because I know first hand and have family that lives up in Ontario

But on that same vein, our wages are a bit higher... I understand what you are saying... and yes our federal taxes are higher than yours... but alot of that can be attributed to the fact that we have a very large country, and a very small population. We have the most miles of paved road per capita in the world,, that dosent come cheap either....

I am not stupid enough to think that all that wonderful hospital care and doctors come for free,, but it sure helps a person sleep at night if you suddenly need them and maybe you couldnt afford to pay for your insurance,,,, or maybe you missed a payment,, I have heard of people having to claim bankruptcy over a hospital stay,, but not here in Canada,, no matter what you will never pay to use a hospital here.... Even if you happen to live in a province where you have to pay medicare,, and you didnt pay it, they will not charge you (they will come after you for past due medicare though)

I'd say that negates the point you're trying to make.

Wouldnt you rather have your govt spend the money that they take in on something that directly affects you, or on something that dosent... really,, if you think about it.. also our governers have caps on their wages as do the bankers,, that is why our banking system didnt run into the issues that yours did. But that is a whole other discussion. Our system works I promise. Even when we did owe money (the province) our premiums were to scale of our wages. I belive that they max out at around 160 a month for a family (it has been awhile since i have had to pay anything so I dont remember exactly)

Re: Wanna see how long you wait for health care in the UK and Canada here you go

The recent banking issues here had nothing to do with wages at all Morkable.

The banking troubles were caused by liberal democrat policies put in place under Carter and Clinton that forced banks to give loans to people that couldnt afford to make the payments.

So waiting weeks and or months for diagnostic imaging, treatment or surgery is ok with you?

Lets use this for an example You have chronic knee pain. By Canadian standards that is not a "emergency" so you wait a month for the necessary MRI. Then another month or longer for surgery. In your eyes thats ok.

Here those things can be done in less than a weeks time
