Google cutting down on news searches

Figured this will effect looking up information in the future so I figured this was the section to post it in

BBC World Service - News - Google sets limit on free news

BBC - dot.life: Did Google just blink?

Ehhhh....... kinda. It resembles more of a circle jerk than anything else

Here's a very very brief rundown:

Time Warner - majority owner of CNN.

AT&T - has significant stakes of Time Warner and several of it's stations, also has a decent investment in Fox News.

General Electric - majority owner of MSNBC, also has large stakes in News Corporation (which owns Fox News), and AT&T.

Viacom - majority owner of CBS.

Disney - owner of ABC, small stakes in Time Warner and AT&T. Interestingly enough, also owns Fox Family Channel. I thought that was odd.

News Corporation - owner of Fox News

So there you have it, the 6 major conglomerates that control the majority of television news. Many have dipped into each others pies.

I guess I don't care either way. I came to realize no matter what goes on, there is nothing I can do about it.

Yep, blame FOX news for it, just like all the liberals always blame fox....yet the "main stream" media never covers what needs to be covered and would rather talk about a dress, shoes or somebody getting sick after eating pizza while sitting in a restaurant in the bathroom........

Murdoch was the biggest proponent of limiting access, especially through Google News. A quick internet search will land you thousands of articles from every major media outlet in the world, including Fox News. They all have Murdoch's name in them as the biggest vocalist that cause Google to limit to 5 free articles per day. Not all media outlets are going to charge money or set a limit, but it looks like Fox News might be the first ones to jump on this.

And if you don't know who Rupert Murdoch is, he is the owner of News Corp., the parent company of Fox News.

Here are just a few articles I pulled..... off of Google News

As complaints mount, Google enables news publishers to limit free content | Technology | Los Angeles Times

The Associated Press: Media execs make case for online fees at FTC panel

Murdoch 1, Google 0 - Forbes.com

Google News Makes A Concession To Whining Publishers: Only First Five Clicks Are Free - washingtonpost.com

And for the grand finale, an article from your precious Fox News itself:

Google to Let Publishers Limit Free Content - Buying Home Computer | Business Solution | Networking Home Computers - FOXNews.com

In that article, it says this:
Quote:
There has been mounting criticism of Google's practices from media publishers most notably News Corp. chairman and chief executive Rupert Murdoch that argue the company is profiting from online news pages.
So no, I'm not making this stuff up, Rampy. You fail, again.
