(7) create and establish a Peace Academy, which shall--

(A) be modeled after the military service academies; and

(B) provide a 4-year course of instruction in peace education, after which graduates will be required to serve 5 years in public service in programs dedicated to domestic or international nonviolent conflict resolution; and

SEC. 102. RESPONSIBILITIES AND POWERS.

(a) In General- The Secretary shall--

(blah blah blah)

(4) analyze existing policies, employ successful, field-tested programs, and develop new approaches for dealing with the tools of violence, including handguns, especially among youth;

SEC. 401. PEACE DAY.

The Secretary shall encourage citizens to observe and celebrate the blessings of peace and endeavor to create peace on a Peace Day. Such day shall include discussions of the professional activities and the achievements in the lives of peacemakers.

This bill died in the house sub-committee.

Dumb bills are introduced nearly every day in Washington, with most dying very early and never going anywhere. It's a practice that's been going on since well before Obama ever made it into the White House.
