Re: Unemployment rate

The unemployment number went up, because government jobs, the majority of which are cops and teachers, have been reduced significantly.

Also, when people first reenter the work force, the unemployment rate commonly ticks up because more people are seeing jobs available and therefore are actively searching. It's just an unpleasant statistical glitch mostly.

The private sector job growth is likely over 200K for the month (offset by the public sector job losses) and could easily be more than 200K. It's not a fantastic number, but it's a better than was expected. 300K private sector would be a great number.

Re: Unemployment rate

Government shed 9000 jobs last month... Thats not huge.

Hell I would be happy if it shed 20k... a month... for 6 months.

Then let the private sector take over those jobs with 30k of workers.

Re: Unemployment rate

There was 195,000 fewer people employed in July than in June.

Ever hear someone who has been shopping on sale day talk about how much money they saved when the real issue was how much they spent.

It's like telling someone you made a lot of money when the price of beef went down because you didn't have any cattle.

If only those who knew what they were talking about replied, this thread would still be on page one.
