Constitution VS. Obamacare

So, how is the Supreme Court going to vote? I'm going with 5-4 against Obamacare

Either 5-4 or 6-3 against Obamacare.

Even Sotomayer appears to be attacking its constitutionality at points

I don't have much confidence in the Supreme Court. If those Justices were worthy of their positions, they would be finished finished in 10 days or less, not in June, and it would be 9-0 one way or the other.

If only those who knew what they were talking about replied, this thread would still be on page one.

ya, but which part. they may find the mandated purchase is unconstitutional, but keep the rest, and it will still drive out private insurance. We'll ALL be on medi-care

Re: Constitution VS. Obamacare

It's worse than I thought. I thought the reason it took so long for them to schedule the hearing was to give them time to read the bill. Apparently they haven't even read it.

Re: Constitution VS. Obamacare

Maybe that's why they need all that time? Let's hope they read the entire bill, err law.

I don't think anyone read the whole bill, not even those who wrote it.

Re: Constitution VS. Obamacare

I don't think anyone was saying the entire law is unconstitutional, just the mandate portions. So, the SCOTUS doesn't have to read all 2000+ pages of the law, or the additional 10,000 pages that have been added to it. But there was no separation clause (proper term?) in the bill that allows the remainder of the law to stay in place if any portion(s) is found to be unconstitutional. So the final outcome is unknown until June when the decision is made. There's 3 possible outcomes; the law remains untouched, a portion or portions are killed, or the entire law is killed.

Re: Constitution VS. Obamacare

BrianC, I hope the last option comes to fruition. First and foremost, medicare fraud, medical fraud, and these crazy lawsuits need to be addressed. Punitive damages etc need to be exterminated. I guess I am more old fashion. I like the "little house and the praire times" of medical care. Have a doctor visit your house or have the true family doctor be your doctor. I don't know, I don't have words to describe what I feel about it right now.
