Keystone Pipeline

It is now the republicancs fault because they were playing politics as according to Jay Carney! If this isn't spin what do you call it!

Quote:
Q I was wondering if you have any reaction -- Republicans are -- I know you havenít said that youíll be tapping the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, but you have said itís on the table. The President did it last summer. Republicans have legislation that would tie the Presidentís hands, would make him have to okay the Keystone pipeline in order for him to be able to tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. And Iím wondering if you have a reaction to that.

MR. CARNEY: Well, I'll make a couple of points on that. In terms of Keystone, as you all know, the history here is pretty clear. And the fact is, is that because Republicans decided to play politics with Keystone, their action essentially forced the administration to deny the permit process because they insisted on a timeframe within which it was impossible to appropriately approve the pipeline. There wasn't even an alternate route proposed yet through Nebraska, an alternate that was deemed necessary based on the request of many in Nebraska, including the Republican governor.

So the fact that the process ended the way it did in terms of that permit request is wholly the responsibility of the Republicans who insisted on playing politics with the payroll tax cut extension back at the end of last year.

Going forward, let's just talk a little bit about oil prices. There are no magic solutions to rising oil prices and the pain that Americans feel at the pump. This is a -- the fact is, is that the President is very aware of the impact that the global price of oil has on families. And this is not something that this administration discovered or rediscovers every spring, as some politicians do. As you're aware, Jake, oil production in the United States has increased every year that this President has been in office. And right now --

Re: Keystone Pipeline

Binder, do you understand that even the builders of the pipeline are not ready to go? They have said it more then once, when it was thrown out there as a political tool that they dont even have the route finalised, dont even have the permits in place.

Once that was done its still a 2-3 year process min to build a pipeline of this scale.

We are two months into the year, I doubt it will happen this year, but it could.

Re: Keystone Pipeline

we know that its not gonna happen soon. the staffing was in place before the line was put on hold and during last year when they still speculated it would happen this yr.

the line will most likely happen state by state to avoid the current issues and reroute around nebraska etc.

Now would be a good time for everyone to learn how to weld pipe. $5000 a week for pipeliners with they're own rig. Local 798. They'll build it. Or they'll loose it all to the Chinese sucking it up and boating it out.

Re: Keystone Pipeline

We're already going at the 550,000 bbl a day pipeline west to ship oilsand oil to asia out of Kitimat BC. Enbridge project Northern Gateway will go after government approval this year. Kitimat ports VLCC 2 million barrel ships. and the port of Vancouver BC is dredging to step up ship size over then next few years too. If our oil isn't going to the States, rest assured its going somewhere else. Almost all current canadian oil export goes to the USA. if that has to change, it'll change.
