Tax increases

Ok, so there is this big push for taking away corporate jet write offs, higher taxes on oil companies and other companies. You have seen them talking about this on all the news sources. They have all spun it to their liking. The lib sources are for it and the repub sources are against it. What I do want to know is why when arguing against it I have not once seen the best argument against it anywhere in the news and that is the fact that these big companies don't pay taxes in the first place. We do. If the gov't collects an extra $50 billion per year from the oil companies, that will be an extra $50 billion per year that we have to pay at the pump. I can guarantee that these higher taxes on these companies and not being able to write off their jets will just make us working class pay more and it really won't affect the companies bottom line. It might affect their bottom line for a year or two, but then it will affect our bottom line for the rest of our lives. Am I the only one that gets this?

Re: Tax increases

It's no different than the fees placed on everything else, line tax, fcc fee, communication fee. All this stuff is just ways to generate more revenue into government, and it simply has one placed to be sourced, the consumer, aka us.

Rick, can we seriously not agree that EVERYONE in DC is in the pocket of one business group or another? They are all guilty of constantly pushing agendas towards those who invested in them and got them to the dance. Some groups cling to the R's and others towards the D's, all wanting what they want legislated into law.

Re: Tax increases

Companies and corporations do not pay taxes. Corporations are entities. Only people pay taxes.

What about the business moving to a more "friendly" country and the subsequent loss of jobs here? Would that matter?

Why don't we get the nearly 50% of Americans who don't pay taxes to pitch in their fair share before asking other Americans or companies to pay more?

What about our fearless leader over using the ultimate corporate jet when compared to previous presidents?

Absolutely.

That's why I have advocated for quite some time that all private donations for political campaigns be eliminated and that each candidate gets a set amount of money from public funds.

Get rid of the need for politicians to 'reward' those who have donated for their election/reelection...and we've gone a long way toward getting rid of the quid-pro-quo that currently exists.
