Re: Holy blown oil pan!!'

Just an update, got the truck hailed home today and started taking a closer look and getting ready to pull the engine. When I took off the clamps for the inter cooler the lower pipe and inter cooler had damn near a gallon of oil in them! Pulled the valve covers and all looks normal there. I am still thinking burnt or cracked piston and now possible turbo as well

So it all seems to have started with seals in the turbo? Which one?

"What they didn't know was that that year Cadillac had reinforced floor boards..."

That's insane! I'm curious to see what you find inside.... Glad you're OK though and that blast went downward...

When the cac is full of oil thats not a turbo seal issue, thats an engine oil overfull concern and all of that gets in there from the ccv system. He has obviously been making oil for some time, and I bet he finds #2 and 8 pistons have or are starting to melt. When the turbo seals go its going to fill the exhaust with oil.

Didn't have time to work on the truck today with family stuff and what not but did manage to get a couple pictures. Will have better ones once I have the engine out and on the stand.

Re: Holy blown oil pan!!'

The exhaust is full of oil as well and if it's been making oil it has done it in the last 800 miles since the last oil change when everything looked and ran great. So whatever broke happened pretty damn quick and hard. I do think I will find a burnt piston but what is confusing me is how did the oil get in the cac?

Re: Holy blown oil pan!!'

If the ccv is rerouted then then maybe it could be a turbo seal, I just don't think I have ever seen a turbo seal blow and oil come out on the compressor side.
