really need information fast on my 6.4 L

I need info on my 6.4L . My engine oil temperature shoots up to exactly 255 after a short amount of driving and stays exactly there. My mechanic says this is fine but Iíve done some research and I think I need to bring that down 😟 Now, I use an edge programmer to check my egtís, eotís and what not. Is it limited to 255 degrees and my oil is actually getting much hotter? Is my oil thermostat just going out and my temperature is actually fine? Thereís no codes 🏽 Do I flush the radiator? The oil cooler? Replace something or another? I DONT KNOW THESE THINGS. If itís not just the thermostat messing up, how do I get that oil temperature down??? 175,xxx miles. Any information is appreciated thank you!!

Re: DONT BAN ME i just really need information fast

I don't know much about the 6.4, but one thing which is a constant among many vehicles in this kind of situation is to check the EOT and ECT when the engine has been sitting for a good ten hours and compare them. They both should be about the same as ambient temp, and should be within a couple degrees of each other. If your EOT is reading 20 degrees high right from the start, it's going to be high the whole way through.

So, if it's way off when cold, I'd replace it and see what temps you get after that. If it's within tolerances, I'd imagine you have a serious oil cooler issue....but again, I don't know much about the 6.4, so there could be something else I don't know about.

I locked all your other threads. Only 1 thread for the subject please.

Look at bullet proof diesel's half kit. Sounds like the oil cooler is clogged. But like said above check the sensors first.

Under 'average' driving conditions in the summertime both my 6.4's run a c-hair over 200, winter about 185-190...

If that helps.
