Removing the air vent covers

Ok continuing the dog hair nightmare, I need to remove the air vent covers, (the things you can close or move the air one director or the other) so I can vaccum out and wipe down the dog hair and dander. How do I do it without destroying them?

And does the 2005 SD XLT have an cabin air filter??? If so how the hell do I access it and change it?
