Engine painting ?

What would be a great technique to paint an engine block? I have bought Engine paint and primer from the local advanced auto parts ? I have already cleaned the block of grease and dirt and washed it down with dawn and rinsed 2 times. and look to be clean ? I also used a wrie wheels to get in all cracks cravice's and the whole block .

An thought's?

Re: Engine painting ?

when you put the primer and paint on, follow the dirrections on the can exactly. The other thing I would do is get some degreeser (as in before you paint a car) and wipe the whole engine down then wipe the degreeser off. After doing this, allow the engine to sit for about 20 min then start priming and painting. I you need clarification on any of this, just give me a ring!

Re: Engine painting ?

i work in an autobody shop and we use PPG DX330 to clean off everything before we paint it works good and evaporates pretty quickly, dry enough to point in around 5 mins. if you can get it thats the best stuff for the job

Re: Engine painting ?

The stuff I have seen/used was for cleaning an air cooled Duetz engine. Only way the paint would stick to that oil infested pile.
