removing clearcoat from obs alcoas

i was thinkin of using aircraft stripper but is there something better?

i wanna take the clearcoat off and repolish

There is no clear on alcoas. Just shine them bad monkey's up.


muratic acid, then get at it with some mothers or something similar, then hit it with some action jackson or some other fine polish.

Ford stopped building trucks in 1997

There IS clearcoat on OBS factory Alcoas, because mine is starting to bubble. I have no idea on how to safely get it off, but I would like to know as well.

Yep, my ALCOAS are also clear coated. Most is on well, put some is pealing off. Get a few scrap pieces of AL and try the Aircraft stripper on them. If it doesn't turn them some odd color, I'd say that it would be good to strip the clear coat.

i wanna take the clear off ine since the clear on mine is just so scratched up and looks like crap, im gonna pickup some stripper today and see im gonna wipe some on the back of the wheel first since i dont know if the aluminum i have here is the same alloy as the wheels i have a bunch of 6160 al

im gonna get the polishing kit from alcoa http://www.southwestwheel.com/store/...leanerkit.aspx

since its got the polish, cleaner, and there sealer thats meant just for alcoas

i wanna put the center caps on mine too, i cant wait to get new brake drums for my trailer so i can put my spare set of alcoas on it dam new trailer has 6 lug wheels

Well, you gentleman have ugly wheels.

My alcoas did not come with clearcoat. Just shiny aluminum and a little Alcoa sticker. My Dad bought it new, and it definately came that way.

I used aircraft stripper on mine. It worked very well.
