Re: polishing intercooler pipes ?

I know a guy who polished the swingarm of a cbr 600 f-2. A STEEL swingarm. You'll have to sand with gradually finer grits of sandpaper till you get to scotch-brite, then start polishing.
Looked like chrome for a while. Lots of work keeping it clean, but no reason you cant clear coat after polishing. Just make sure you wipe it down with acetone really good before adding the clear, or every fingerprint will show up as a yellowish spot in the clear.

Why not chrome them?

Re: polishing intercooler pipes ?

Just clean off the crud. I spent forever doing mine on the EX and they looked like crap after 6 months. Waste of time to totally polish them. Get them coated or painted and that will look better and last longer.

But then again I am in a little more harsh enviornment than you are.

That is what I used, but it did not last. Now I just wipe the pipes off when they get dirty and they look like they have never been polished.

A nice Powder Coat job looks pretty nice. The ceramic chrome is darn near as good as polished.
