what to use for filler??

im finishing up my nerf bars on my truck and the tubing i got has some gouges in it that i wanted to get out that really shows up in the primer what are yall using to make thoose go away?? i was thinkin lightweight filler but then i gotta sand it all the way back to bare metal is there something that can be used over the primer? the gouges are really shallow i imagine just from the tubing being slid over each other its about the depth of average stamping depth...

Re: what to use for filler??

you can use any body fillers over "good" cured catalyzed or epoxy primers. the key word is cured, 1 week is plenty time. but if it is spray can, i would sand it off unless its good automotive paint store self etching primer in a spray can. after you fill gouges, use the same primer over the filler. to prep for filler, just sand dry with 220, blow off dust, apply filler, sand smooth, and spray primer again.
