Clear coat on polished aluminum

So I picked up a set of weld aluminum wheels. I wet sanded, 800,1000 1500. Then mother's on a cloth wheel. Removed black residue with flour (nice tip for those who dont know)

I got the lip looking really nice, but I think I'm going to paint the centers black.

My question is does anyone have any recommendations for painting, paint prep, or for clear coating? Didn't know what to clean the wheel with that wouldn't f*** up my polishing.

Re: Clear coat on polished aluminum

What is the flour trick you speak of?

Im pretty sure a clear coat will dull the sine on your wheels

Flour removes the black residue from polishing. Put it on a rag n rub. Comes right off

Re: Clear coat on polished aluminum

Clean it good with denatured alcohol to remove any oil or wax. The best way to get a good paint job is to properly prepare the surface first.
