Tumble polish compressor housing, can it be done?

If I build a big tumbler will it polish a rough turbo housing like it does rocks?

Maybe with the right media and enough time. If you're going to run agressive enough media to polish a rough cast housing, I would mask the machined surfaces inside so it doesn't mess with the tolerances.

My assumption from doing that as a kid is that it will tend to round off every corner under the sun on the housing. I have glass bead blasted some aluminum parts and that makes for kind of a cool finish on stuff and also takes off the roughness of the casting.

Ya I was gonna make a cover out of lexan for the back and use Plumbing leak test plugs for the rest and maybe use some duct take to seal it up.

If you make a tumbler you could always try it on an old housing first to make sure the idea works OK. I wonder how TN polishes their stuff?
