Thread auto lock?

Is there a way to turn that function off?

If I go searching through past threads for a topic if I find what I'm looking for, a lot of the times on older threads, they are locked after they become so old.

That means, if I have a question about an existing thread, I would have to start a whole new one just to get an aswer instead of just bumping the one already in place.

It's not a huge deal, but imo it doesn't encourage the search function. It encourages the seemingly endless number of "which tuner is best for my 6.4?" threads that pop up.

Sometimes I would just rather bump an older thread versus starting a new one.

Does that make sense?

Find a thread you want, pm a mod & they will unlock it.

Yeah, there's that.

I'm just wondering why do it in the first place? Why not just leave the threads open?

Re: Thread auto lock?

Just start a new thread and link the old one. Or what Garret said, just PM us. Sometimes the old timers will mot even look at an old resurrected thread.

I understand how to get around it but that doesn't answer the question as to what is the point of locking them.

No clue, but here is a bump for somebody that might know the answer.

MASSIVE savings of bandwidth. pm a mod, if its that important to a member, they should at least be willing to ask.
