Which one is better?

Hi Guys,

I'm the proud owner of a 96 F250. I bought this truck without an engine. It had a Powerstroke Diesel in it before.

Now I'm asking myself if I should get a motor for this model year or try to get a 03 motor, which has more horsepower?

What do you think?

Is there a big difference between these two motors or is the difference only in the horsepower?

Every idea and comment is highly appreciated.

Greetings from the old world (Krautland).

Ronny

P.S. The VIN says it's a super duty, but the badges on the fenders say XLT. So what is it?

Re: Which one is better?

Any motor will fit from 94.5-03. The 01-03 motors have pmrs (powder metal rods) which are not as strong a forged rods. You are going to need to run obs (94-97) motor harness, accessories, and injectors for it to run right. So that means any motor you run is going to be limited to the obs hp rating. Unless you upgrade injectors and have a chip. The power will stay the same.

01 f-250, Standard
Rev tech 4" lift, 37" military wrangler Mt tires
KC diy 66, Full force 160/100 and custom tunes from PHP
Banks intercooler and full 4" exhaust, Diy S&B intake
Diy quad feed, Hydra, Isspro boost, pyro, and fuel pressure
3/0 battery cables with military style terminals
