2002 Fummins Swap Questions

Hello everyone one. It's been a long time since my last post here.

I'm interested in taking a 2002 Ford F250 V10 and converting the truck into a 12v along with a manual trans that goes with the 12v. I don't want to meet a 12V with the existing 4R100. I know his will require modification to the crossmember by drilling a hole under the mount for a different bracket and obviously cutting a hole for the shift linkage along with mounting a clutch pedal.

As for the 12V engine it's self, I know I will need motor mounts and to move the batteries, along with the adapters for the Tach but what else goes along with this? I'm very ill knowledged when it comes to big conversions like this. The most I've done was a 350 from a 95 Silverado into a 93 Silverado, nothing like a 12V in a Ford. Never the less due to money, lack of hobbies and my hunger for knowledge I'd much rather swap this engine myself and a few friends then send it out. I'd like to get my hands dirty and stand back and look at what I've completed in the end.

With all that being said, in my eyes, the idea of a Fummins is either you love it or you hate it. For those of you that hate it I have no intentions of wanting to change this idea. If anyone has any info, or if someone has done it themselves I would love some I site, or referral to a similar thread. I live in Michigan not far from DNR Customs and Hallas Performance and I have seen a couple bad ass Fummins from Mike, it's been a dream.

Thank you in advanced.

Re: 2002 Fummins Swap Questions

its a doable swap, get on fordcummins.com and destroked.com as well, pick your parts from both or just one site. and do as much reading as possible on the topic. better yet you can call these places and discuss your plans and im sure they can even put together some kind of package or a specific group of parts you want.

as far as the truck your gas tank and lines i would change since i dont know if they can handle diesel fuel, and the radiator might need to be swapped if you plan on going big power otherwise it will work on a stock motor. mounting an intercooler and basic wiring and mounting whatever accessories you want like ac. but good luck ask questions and do the best you can and make a sweet truck you would be proud of.

Re: 2002 Fummins Swap Questions

Thanks Polish Pete. I found a sweet deal on an 08 F250 with a blown 5.4L in it, im thinking about doing a 12v swap into that and have definitely been doing my research. Haven't called anyone yet but that is my next plan. Just want to get my facts straight first. With that being said, i plan to do my first build thread if everything here works out in my favor!
