Anybody modify the stock damper to avoid aftermarket tach ring

Just wondering if anyone had made a 58 tooth outhof the factory 12 valve damper? My thoughts were to cut grooves in the outer edge of the damper and use 2 of the three wires from the factory cummins sensor. Anybody tried it or know why it isn't a good idea?

Did this with a 1/4" ball end mill, but I only needed 4 grooves

If you need 58 tooth count, it wouldnt be hard, just setup off center, and use and end mill to run a 58 hole bolt circle. Of course, requires a mill to do, and really a cnc to keep from loosing your mind.

I have used the Digital Dakota box dc-1 in a few swaps. works flawlessly. Reads off of the alternator field wire into microprosessor, out of micro, into vehicle cam signal wire, back dash harness. I tried a tach tone ring setup once. didn't work with a fluid dampener. So I went with the DD box.

guy doing a 12v conversion on comp d was talking about getting a 6.7 damper.. it has the 58 tooth tach ring on it already..i think??
