E4OD to ZF5 Question

Will a ZF-5 out of a 1992 2wd 7.3L F-superduty bolt up to my 1995 4wd? Looking at doing a swap and I have two possible doner trucks both are F-supers one is a 92 the other is a 95 both are 2wd with ebrake on the tail shaft. Also are the frames different meaning is the F-superduty narrower than a f-350, somewhere I remember reading that cab chassie's are narrower but if anyone actually knows that would help. The 10 lug axels, did they ever make a 4x4 version? What would I need to do to set my D60 up to handle the 10 lug rims?

Re: E4OD to ZF5 Question

Ok so from my research the from the front bumper to the back of the cab the frame is the same width, meaning motor and tranny stuff should swap over no problem.

Is there a difference between 2wd and 4wd zf5 cross members?

Re: E4OD to ZF5 Question

I want to know this same info as i have a 1991 350 donor truck with a ZF5 I plant to swap in. I'd love to find a good write up about swapping in a ZF5 to an OBS and possibly a good parts list. PM me liftedredstroker if you have anything like that.

Send a message via Yahoo to linkfarms
Should be plenty of write up's
You'll need drive shafts
pedals 87-91 pedals WILL NOT work in a obs or vice versa
and small wiring changes
superduty brick or obs 2wd zf's will work for 4wd's t-cases bolt right on with e-brake removed
swap is pretty straight Forward if you have both trucks right next to each other is best

Ok so I have read to page 14 so far... i havent seen any pictures yet (maybe because i am not logged in over there) but so far it is not a write up just a few hints and tips here and there. I will be looking into a parts truck soon and i will do a write up with pictures and we will post it here.

Re: E4OD to ZF5 Question

Ok so I am trying to work out a deal with the guy who is selling his 1995 F-SuperDuty. He has a CCSB F-250HD and needs a motor, long story short I hope to get everything I need for $1000 with a freshly rebuilt ZF-5. I will pull it apart to verify before it goes into my truck then refill will synthetic fluid.

Re: E4OD to ZF5 Question

New Question though, Does the PCM matter for 2wd or 4wd? The parts truck is 2wd, do I need to get a chip to make it run? or can I swap my E4od pcm with the ZF-5 PCM?

Re: E4OD to ZF5 Question

So $1500 later I have a ZF-5 and transfercase out of a 97, the flywheel, clutch, pedals, master and slave cylinder, and crossmember. I was suppose to get the PCM with everything but the guy ended up pulling the IDM instead. I am in the process of cleaning all the parts off with the steam pressure washer we have at work. So far I know I need to get... 1. New Fluid. 2. new seals on the sides of the transmission case. 3. new clutch.
