To convert or not to

Cummins or 7.3 modifications?
I can buy an 02 SD w 4r100 tranny for $4500. Engine has 30k and tranny 10k. Nothing wrong with truck.

I have an 97 CCSB that I want to build up. I can get a 7.3L w 500hp for around $4500.00. But then I have to buy a tranny for $4000.00 also.

Like
-the sound of the 7.3.
-the "incab" experience of the CR, and it has 350-400hp w minor mods.

Dislike
-Hard to hook up the wiring on a CR conversion,

On the fence with this, what are your thoughts?

Re: To convert or not to

Buy the 02 SD and 12 valve it. I've got 2 cummins swaps under my belt now. A p-pump and a CR. Although the CR was easy to wire, the p-pump is just a brute of a motor. The p-pump will never let you down. It can also make huge power with simple mods.

Re: To convert or not to

my biggest issue with the CR is the cruise control hook up.

03 and 04 is your only choice if you want cruise. Then you don't get to play with EFILiVE.

They say it's coming out soon tho.
