Re: who is making bio diesel?

$4+ a gal for diesel and I just got a quote for $4.60/gal for home heating oil and my 1000 gal tank is empty - WTF.

So I'm going to be looking to make bio-diesel soon too!!

Re: who is making bio diesel?

I made my first test batch with new oil. I still have to filter out all my old oil to get it ready to make bio. I'm gonna build the processor soon too, but I still have some equipment to buy.

Re: who is making bio diesel?

I am just talking about the oil and the chem supplies. I found some sites for the equipment already.

what amount for each chemical goes into making 1 gal of bio diesel?

a friend of my friend owns a Mc Donalds right by my house so I should be able to get the oil supply

Re: who is making bio diesel?

Don't count on that supply. Most of the big chain restaruants have contracts and are afraid of the potential liability. The smaller restaraunts are a better chance. Unfortunately for the individual around the San Diego area there are a few companies that are collecting oil for bio-D refining and this makes it really tough to find sources. Also the few restaraunts I have talked to up by me either use oil that is not the best type for refining or the storage tanks for their waste oil are in such bad shape and not monitored that the oil is in bad shape(LOTS of water, trash, other chemicals, etc.)

Good luck. I keep thinking about getting some people together to do some sort of Co-op thing where a bunch get together and buy bulk oil on the open market. Unfortunately I don't trust people so that makes it hard.
