50mpg 7.3

That's close to what I averaged the last few tanks of diesel I filled up with.

That's with winter (warm ups/idling), city driving(stop light gp) ,30 min. highway ride (80+mph) to town or the ski mountain. Oh yea can't forget, hubs locked all the time, plowing and tearin azz in the snow in 4wd. Soo, I should do much better in the summer time right?

Did I mention I have a waste vegetable oil system? About a year now. I only use diesel to warm up and shut down. So, after truck is warmed up (depends on how cold out) the truck does not consume diesel till shutdown. I only get such low mpg now due to my short daily driving that averages 30-40 minutes each way.

So, this is nothing new, and I did not in anyway invent this myself. But, I thought I would just post this incase some folks are looking for alternatives to the insane fuel prices.

Up here supply is not a problem, it gets cold and not too many people drive diesel daily drivers. The other "greasers" around me drive vw's and mercedes. They end up getting too much. It's the up and coming biodiesel co-ops that I may be in competetion for soon.

Right now I get 10gal/reasturant a week from 3 places, 5minutes away.
So 30 gallons /week supplies my needs for now.

You need an out of sight heated "place", shop, garage to store, settle, filter. I filter down to 1 micron before putiing it in my 50gallon transferflow tank. Neighbors might think you are making crank.

Re: 50mpg 7.3

I was considering one of those setups when I first got my truck. Kinda lost interest though. Now with diesel pushing $4 a gallon, I don't get to drive it much. Might have to go back to trying to figure one of these setups out. Frashdog, how do you have your system set up?

Re: 50mpg 7.3

My wvo system is basically a coolant heated auxiliary fuel system, I built it based on the vegistroke design. Current system in my truck is built with several vegistroke parts. I’ve had a wvo system in for a year now. The current set up about 10,000 miles.

I’ll tell you I built my first and second (current) system, trying to save money where ever possible. I burned up a $350 dollar pump, had leaks hear and there. I decided to rebuild the system with several vegistroke parts. If I was going to do it again, or recommend some one to do it, save up and do it right, by the complete vegistroke system, maybe find your own fuel tank. Sure you can make one yourself, but the just amount of time spent to fabricate it, test it, tweek it, repair it, on and on. Vegistroke has done all the work, and there systems are worth every penny. The new V3 billet design is awesome looking, too. Yea, did I mention check out vegistroke.com, actually it is also dinofuelalternatives.com
