calculating acutal miles traveled

Can anyone tell me how far I actually traveled? My speedo hasnt been recalibrated, but stock was 265/75/16, and now I have 315/75/16 tires. So like from 31's to 35's. I went 215 miles on the rear tank, so I'm guessing I probably actually went about 20 miles further than that. I think you just have to figure out how much of a % bigger the tires are, then take that % and add it to the miles driven.

Re: calculating acutal miles traveled

I used the mile markers on the interstate over a 40 mile trip and compared that to my trip meter in the truck. To get my miles now I have to divide my odo reading by 1.045.

This method is much easier to figure out.

Or you could buy a GPS.

But the formula would be (new tire diameter / old tire diameter) x miles indicated on odometer = actual miles driven.

In your case

(35 / 31) x 215
(1.129) x 215
= 242.7
