10mpg is it possible?

since doing my last mods i have dropped to 10 mpg. i was getting 12 around town and 12.7 on the freeway on cruise control, flat ground. at 65mph, cruise on, flat ground, 2250rpm i am making 11psi. could the 11psi be killing my mileage? i am running 35's and 4.10's. i will be dropping to 3.73's and up to 37's. hopefully this will drop my rpm's and help mileage. what do you guys think?

Re: 10mpg is it possible?

That lift isnt helping I'm sure. Taking it easy most of the time I get about 15 mpg or so. It varies because its hard to take it easy. Although my truck doesnt have quite as much as yours. These winter months though I cant calculate what I am getting because it would be so off from letting it sit and warm up.

No longer a proud member of PSN.

Yep it's possible, winter is really hard on Diesels. Drive it easy & try to keep the RPMs below 2000 & see if that helps.

Re: 10mpg is it possible?

It's the lift and tires. Not saying it couldn't be better, but I get 14 in truck with stock suspension / tire size. I'm sure if I added a large lift and tires with the way I drive, it would drop to 10-12.

The reason for the drop after the mods is your right foot.

Re: 10mpg is it possible?

I'd have to disagree too Greg, if you have the right gear/tire/driver combo you can still get decent MPG with a lifted truck.

Re: 10mpg is it possible?

That would be a first. You honestly think jacking it up 8" and adding a huge amount of rolling resistance didn't decrease the mileage?

Did you have your speedo corrected?

BTW, I'm gonna redirect this to the mpg forum. Maybe Dave will chime in for us.

You're putting words in my mouth

I never said you "couldn't get decent mileage" I said it would cause a decrease on the same truck before / after.

At least that's what I meant

Re: 10mpg is it possible?

i do understand where your coming from, im just speaking from my personal experiences....

my speedo is corrected also....before lift/tires milage was 19-21, after lift tires and corrected speedo my mileage was still 19-21...

but its all in the way you drive, i dont go tearing arse all over the place...the truck hardly ever sees over 2200rpm and thats only at a shift usually cruise around at 1100-1600 rpm

CCLB with some stuff done .....
