How to increase mileage for my daily driver

1992 Honda Accord.

Best it ever got was 24MPG exactly. That was driving it hard though. 85mph on the freeways and revving it through the gears in town. That was with mid grade fuel too.

It gets 23 on regular so I'm going to start using mid grade exclusively.

What else can I do?

Only mod is an intake with large open filter.

It all depends on how much you want good MPG. There is a guy on another site with an Civic (non-hybrid) operating at 70-90 MPG, but he is even more radical than I am.

Like with pickups. there are gains to be made in gearing and aerodynamics but you really have to change the nut behind the wheel.

2000 F-350 SC 4x2 6 speed
3.08 gears Gear Vendor Overdrive
Slammed 4"
Rugged Air Dam
315,000 miles

Re: How to increae mileage for my daily driver

Well, what's he doing to get that? I'd be esctatic with 35-40 up from what I'm getting now.

I've backed it down to 75 on the freeway lately and been easier in town. Got 24 on regular gas this time, hoping to bust 25 on midgrade and taking it easy.

What else can I do?

That's a good idea. I don't know if it's had a tune up lately or not. I will get some plugs.

I just changed the oil but now I'm thinking I should have went with synthetic.

One thing that's hurting it is it's an auto trans

you can manually shift a auto.Lift your foot at the proper rpm's instead of just keeping the throttle down.
