Loss of MPG

Does the winterized diesel fuel really cause a loss of MPG. I was able to get approximately 550-600 miles out of my tank. Now I'm getting around 450ish. Did the winterized diesel cause this.

Re: Loss of MPG

based on my very un-scientific determination I have always gotten way lower fuel economy when they start blending so I would say yes.

Re: Loss of MPG

Its not just winter blend fuel. In winter the air is denser and imposes additional aero drag. Also people drive differently in winter.

But yeah, I lose 2-3 MPG in the winter.

Re: Loss of MPG

also you have to count in additional idle and warm up time in the winter that will hurt your miles per tank
