What kind of mileage???

So what kind of mileage could i expect from a early 99 7.3 2wd automatic? Its standard cab long bed. Just curious what kind of mileage i could expect with just intake and exhaust on it? And what kind of difference does lowering make? Thanks for any help.

Re: What kind of mileage???

one of my dads work trucks is a 7.3 ext cab long bed 2wd auto all stock and he sees a constant 18 mpg no matter how hard he drives it. Lowering would prolly help with the mpgs a lil bit. Intake and exhaust..maybe a mile or so

Thats what i like to hear. Im thinking of dumping my heap-o-chit s10 4banger and getting this truck. My s-10 is getting about 22mpg. I figure if I can get at least 20 out of a 7.3, I might as well dump my s-10 and get this superduty. Its early 99 with 180k on the clock and they area asking $4500. The body is super clean too.

Re: What kind of mileage???

I was reading a few other threads on here about people with superduty 7.3's getting well over 20mpg. Yea, im trying to sell a bunch of vehicles right now. Hopefully something will go soon I have my 2000 z28, my 2000 s10, and my 1974 k5 that im trying to sell. Figure i will have my superduty i have now, and a 2wd standard cab superduty for my daily driver. Then i will build another 4x4 or maybe a hot rod this time. But for now, im just trying to liquidate and get a good daily driver lol.

I found out the hard way Alex the best Daily driver is a car you wont ever want to do mods to. I always found my driver ended up being my next project, lol! Thats why I have a 95 Park Ave !

Re: What kind of mileage???

trust me, intake, exhaust, and MAYBE a chip if i get a 7.3 for a daily driver. Otherwise it wont be getting modded. Thats what that damn red thing is for i guess

I found an 08 tailgate I was going to pick up for it, but plans changed. You want a white 08 tailgate toby, its a pretty good deal. The guy was going to meet me in Newcastle off 80 today.

Re: What kind of mileage???

My 00 got around 18mpg for a 500 mile trip on 2 occasions. Went through about 3/4 of a tank. On the way back home I throttled back to 50-60-& finally 65 (depending where I was) & didn't do the math but know the fuel gauge moved less & went through about half a tank on the way back. So I know if you can drive at 65 on the highway the trucks are happy & can pull 20+ mpg. If you want to do 70+ then you will pay for it.
