A Commercially Available Aerodynamic Truck Lid

For all you bolt-on types.

Gallery

Aerodynamically sub-optimal but eye-pleasing and better than an open bed or even a tonneau.

Probably good for 2-3 MPG.

Nope. Different guy. Different concept.

Other guy had cursory rear window, a convex shape, and ended about 8" above the tailgate.

This is the other guy's "aero-lid" in a wind tunnel test.

Aerolid in A2 Wind Tunnel - Mooresville, N.C. - YouTube

Nearly perfect. Note how the smoke appears to hug the contour of the lid all the way to the end.

The concave one will shed the flow and create a low-pressure area, sucking the truck backwards.

Here's yet another approach. Aerodynamics and cargo protection for the lazy man.

Re: A Commercially Available Aerodynamic Truck Lid

yeah i'm confused as to why this new company decided to build a concave cap. maybe a patent issue on laminar flow design held by the other guy?
