Propane for mileage

Ok guys. I know pane is infamous for the carnage it has caused trying to make more power. But I am seriously thinking about getting a kit to increase my mileage. I dont know about everyone else but my $650 a month fuel bill is kicking my a$$ in this economy. Im seeing it priced about $1.00 a gallon less than diesel. Do you think this would be cost effective or worth the initial investment?

Re: Propane for mileage

It is about a wash when used lightly according to my friend that just took off his system. He calculated a savings of next to nothing. He said it was not worth it for the cost of the system/fuel savings. But then again I dont remember what he paid for the propane at each fill up.

Re: Propane for mileage

If hes pulling a system off It couldnt have and advantage for him. Im wondering how much of a mileage increase he was seeing. Probably worth my money to just convert to single shots. Already runnin the two stroke mix thanks to your input

Re: Propane for mileage

I bet you would like what you see with a new set of AC's. That is if you can keep your foot out of it. Glad you like the premix.

Re: Propane for mileage

there isn't nothing out there that is going to give you a mileage increase that you will benifit from with the innitial investment.

Look at it as a performance stand point with the mileage being a benifit and go that route.

Yeah, I figured thats typically the way it is. Prolly just save the money and buy/build a set of single shots and get terminated. Im thinkin my injectors are getting worn.

Re: Propane for mileage

the terminator will give you a better performance on your stock setup then singles will with a terminator. If you think your inj's are hurt'n then go singles and see how that pans out before you go big oil.Or hell just go for the whole shoot'n match

PM JSM1 he has a 03 terminated on stock inj's and gets pretty good fuel milage

Re: Propane for mileage

Propane is an auxiliary fuel.

But if you have a source of propane that is cheaper (on a BTU basis) than diesel, I say go for it.
