Expected MPG with 5th Wheel???

I am new to this forum so this question may have already been asked. If so, I truly apologize.

I am looking at purchasing either a 2001 or 2003 F250, 4X4, Crew, 3.73 with a 7.3l diesel. I pull from time to time a 35 ft 5th wheel weighing about 10-11K lbs. I live in Texas so there are not too many hills to contend with so I am wondering what mpg should I expect? Is the 6.0 a better engine? I heard the 2003 6.0s were not that good and had numerous issues. Let me know as much as you can.

Thanks again!

If your going to pull, you want a 7.3. Best pullers i have seen yet. The 6 leaker you will have to do a exhaust egr delete and a tuner. Its your choice i would recommend the work horse!

Re: Expected MPG with 5th Wheel???

hello, i pull atleast twice a year from coast (galveston) to Lulling, it all depends on wind that day, can start off calm at home then get winds in hill country. We pull with a group from 2000 7.3, 2001 7.3, 2006 6.0 and 2004 5.9 cummblob, we all avg anywhere from 10-13mpg trailers are from 26 to 35, with small mods, 7.3's pull better in rolling hills ...just my .02

I pull a 28' travel trailer and get on an average 12 mpg.... but i dont drive fast mostly what ever the speed limit.... like the above post.. if its windy all bets are off a good stiff head wind puts me around 10 mpg
ive got a early '99 7.3 psd ive got the truck muffler, AIS intake and a tipton 40 hp towing tune.... very satisfied with the performance.
