MPG Feedback

Ok, so I just want to see if I'm on with my MPG or low or what. Sig says what the truck has, I am pulling a 40' 5er, dual slide outs, gross weight at 22,500. I was averaging 10-11 mpg, 850-1050 egt, 180-190 trans, 200 coolant, pulling at average 60 mph at 1900rpm. I am also using fuel from on Ft Lewis with 5% biofuel. Pulling in the Northwest Washington, south of Olympic Forest, Air temp approx. 55. Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Re: MPG Feedback

I'd say if you're getting 10-11 MPG towing at that gross on the highway, you're doing real well!

Re: MPG Feedback

I grew up here and maybe you mean capitol forest, or olympic national park? Regardless. I tow a 30 foot RV trailer that only weighs around 7500. 10-12 is the range of mpg I can get. Compared to a big gas engine at 6 we're doing great but these things need to burn fuel to move such trailers.

Re: MPG Feedback

Your mileage is about right, lots of aero drag with 5th wheel but your trans temps are pretty high. Towing 22k we rarely see over 160* at 85* degrees much less at 55. Might consider a tru-cool or a 6.0 trans cooler and protect your transmission.
