8 MPG

Hey Guys,

I have a good friend who just bought a 2006 6.0l CC 4x4 short bed with the 20" wheels 24,000 miles, beautiful truck, bone stock.

Problem is he's getting 8 mpg around town, hand calculated, computer says 10 mpg. He's an older guy, late 40's so he isn't racing light to light. It has good power, doesn't smoke, no SES light, seems to be making the right amount of boost per the dash gauge
Haven't been able to scan it so I'm not sure if it as any soft codes in it....

We didn't have a lot of time to mess with it, south Fla. rain ran us off.

The only thing we did was put a little air in the tires (70psi), and talk about the way the filler tube sits way down in the tank.

When we get back together I'm going to talk him into changing the fuel filter, air filter, I'm also going to give the intercooler boots a good look over.

What else we can look at?

Thanks, Jeff

I have a philosophy? Who knew. Ok, where's the beer?

In lockstep to the end of the world....

Re: 8 MPG

Something doesnt sound right, Get a scanner plugged up to it. Also can you do any WOT runs? I had new (4k miles) on the fuel filters and my truck would miss and stumble and the filters were clogged up pretty good. It runs good now and picked up a mpg.

Re: 8 MPG

Thanks guys.

The 20's are stock and look great, so they ain't leaving The rear end is a 3:73 LS.

The more I think about it, He may have filled at commercial pump (big filler nozzle) made a lot foam and didn't get a full fill........

Just fishing about
