Re: shortest drive to work

There will be a lot of comments about MPG here. many are 15-18 i have a 13 mile drive to work down the highway, i get 22 mpg on LSD not USLD highway never in the city. Fewer miles you wont get as good.

Re: shortest drive to work

About 50 feet here too. I work from home mostly.
6 miles to my office if I have to go in and sometimes I have service calls too so that can be up to 300 miles.

My mileage is all over the place depending on where I drive. 14 mpg to 22 mpg.

F250 to F250, your MPG with a diesel most likely will be better that a gasoline engine. Used, the diesel is going to go for a higher premium. If you're getting the F250 just for the three mile commute, well, you might not get "your money back" because of MPG vs cost.

If you lived in an area where winters were colder, that MPG might be hurt more in the winter time too.

Are you getting the vehicle to tow something on weekends? I think the 7.3 is great in that. Personally, I wouldn't go back.

In the end, it's a decision that you're probably trying to rationalize, in addition to the emotional end. I really enjoy my 7.3PSD. It's a work engine that has an alter ego of a hot rod.

0.3 Miles here. Truck stays in the drive and I walk. I average about 12-13mpg when making a bunch of short trips though.

Re: shortest drive to work

for now im driving my 00 jeep wrangler that might get 15mpg down hill but normally around 13. i would go to svo or wvo in the summer months when i cant ride my motorcycle and mix when it gets cooler and prob 90ish% diesel in the winter. im very much into offroad and rock crawling so it would get used to tow every chance i got
