stock 2001 F350 mileage

I'm about to buy a 2001 single wheel F350 4x4 crew cab with a 7.3 powerstroke. Any idea what kind of mileage I should expect?

My friend has one ane he gets about 12 in town and 17 highway. Really just depends on how it was driven and how you drive.

Re: stock 2001 F350 mileage

My dad used to have a 2000 f-350 cc single rear wheel, 4x4 auto, he got around 15-16 or so.
My sig has mine with my mods.
Alot of it depends on how you drive, and what kind of driving you do more, like city or highway, or slow back country roads.
For instance, I know I can get 18 mpg even with a lift and tires, but I know for a fact I CAN also get below 10 mpg like I said, alot depends on your driving habits.
Also depends on things like proper tire pressure, lift and tires, mods, and gear ratio.
I agree with the 14-18 as nasty96 said for a ballpark.
BTW be sure and post pics if you do get it.

MPG is a crap shoot. There are freak trucks that get 9, and freak trucks that get 24-28.

Figure 16-18 as a year round average, depending on how much you drive in the summer and winter, as well as your driving style.

Re: stock 2001 F350 mileage

i just rebuilt mine and have about 2000 miles you can see what mods i have done in my sig but i just went on a trip from south ms to kansas and back, i get 17 mpg going 70mph then the next tank of gas i went 65mph and got 18.2mpg, then the last tank of gas i went 60 mph and got 21 mpg. that is all hand calculated and filling the tank to the brim to make sure i get accurate readings, i also know for a fact by way of gps that my speedo is dead on. ive got stock tires and 4.10 gears. so if that gives you an idea the slower you go the better your mileage will be. also if i had 3.73 gears id say i coul get better mileage going faster because it would bring my rpms down to around 1800, thats where my rpms were when i got 21 mpg. also all this is on a 4x4 so thats not bad.
