tire question

I know it has been discussed before, but :) I am going to need new tires in the next 6 - 12 months. I have 410 gears and drive 25 miles to work every day and 25 miles home. If i keep my speeds at 60 or less I average 17 mpg. If I go 65 - 70 my mpg drops to 13.75 - 14.5. Tire change option only, I am not changing gears. I would like to, but its not in my budget or time frame right now. especially time frame, I work with my truck. So with that being said, What would be my best option. 255 85 16 or 235 85 16 or 285 75 16. 235 and 285 give me the most options in tires, but the 255 is tall and skinnier than the 285 for less drag. I currently run 235s. I am going to buy new tires anyway just looking for some educated opinions. Emphasis on educated. Thanks guys, Have a blessed evening.

Re: tire question

Are you really asking about the difference between 235/285 for a increase or decrease in mileage? come on man pick a tire and move on with your life. Your not going from a 30" tire to 35's your talking about a very small difference here.

Re: tire question

could be a small difference. Or it could make my truck much easier to drive at highway speeds. What difference would it make in rpm between 235 and a 255. Is it worth it to upsize. also small differences can make a person very happy.

Re: tire question

For MPG purposes I recommend the 235-85x16.

That's what I run and by trial and error have found it to be optimal for MPG.
