Mileage Improvement

Last weekend I installed a Magnaflow 4" exhaust on my 2001 F350 PSD along with a Bully Dog GT Triple Tuner. My first check of fuel economy resulted in a circuit of 74.2 miles where the truck consumed 2.3 gallons of diesel. This week it has traveled over 275 miles and the fuel gauge is still showing 3/4 full.

Hope this helps others get better fuel economy. How I would Love to see .59 cent/gallon diesel again.

Re: Mileage Improvement

That's almost 29 mpg. No offense meant but that sounds too good to be true.

Re: Mileage Improvement

It is so difficult to consistently fill the tank to the same level on these trucks that you need a run of several tanks to average out the under/overfills.

Any tank that can be filled nearly 5 gallons beyond the first couple of full clicks of the filler nozzle is a huge variable in mileage calculations.

I try and use the same pump each time. Get three "full" clicks and then add 4 more gallons. Really drives my buddies crazy when we compare fuel tank levels after a long tow and their 7.3 is at 1/4 and mine is at 1/2.
