Trans fluid change for a 2001 and a 2007

My buddy and I are going to change our trans fluid this Sat. 14th. His is a F350 2001 auto 4x4 with a 7.3 and mine a F250 2007 auto 4x4 with a 6.0.

I thought if both ours trans use the same fluid we may be able to get a volume discount.
Our plan is to drain the pan of the trans fluid. Fill it back up drive to operating temp (1/2 hour). Drain the pan a second time, fill and drive (1/2 hour) and on the third drain drop the pan, clean out the magnet and change the filter. Our hopes are to maybe replace approximately 75% or more of the fluid.

Now a couple of questions:
Do both of our transmissions use the same fluid?
I know the 6.0 has a toilet roll filter by the rad, not sure of any filters on the 7.3?
Can we use synthetic fluids even if only 75% is changed.
What is the current acceptable trans fluid FoMoCo recommends in either types.

Any thoughts or recommendations on the fluids and maybe beer brands.
