2000 Ex. question on trans?

I just got a 2000 Expedition, 7.3 with 155,000 miles. I came with these mods, 4" turbo back by flowmaster and a MAC inake and filter (don't like this filter, it will see the trash can soon). I am pretty unfamilar with driving these trucks so I really don't know if the trans is acting as it should or not. I commute in a '98 Escort ATX and am used to that. Seems like the Ex. is reving quite a bit and just not getting up and moving. Kinda like a CVT, it rev's up and the speed climbs. The last shift, as the Torque Converter locks, takes quite a bit of time for the speed to climb to 40mph while the rpm's stay a 2,000 the entire time, then, as the TCC locks, the rpms drop from 2,000 down to around 1,300-1,400, which is much more than I am accustomed to. The Escorts rpms will rise as it accelerates and the TCC engagement drops the rpms around 300-400. Is this normal?

Thanks for your help.

Re: 2000 Ex. question on trans?

I figured out why the rpms drop so much when the TCC locks. It's because it is shifting into 4th, the TCC lock imediatly. Is this right? Seems like it should hit 4th a bit sooner than 40mph, maybe 35mph?

I believe TC lockup is at 35 mph and 4th is after 40mph......

Re: 2000 Ex. question on trans?

Quick, wheres the "Edit Noob Post" button!!!

Escape, Explorer, Expedition, Excursion....it's all very confusing :)

You know what I mean....the shift to fourth is right on top of the TCC lock and they both happen at 40mph. I noticed this tonight when I was slowing down and the TCC unlocked around 35 mph, then I got back on it and the rpms went up to 1500 and it started pulling up to 40mph where the TCC locked. That seemed like what should be happening normally.

I have a slight change in plans bud. I won't be down until the 7th so that should help with that event you were saying you were supposed to attend. I will bring all the tools we previously discussed with me.

Re: 2000 Ex. question on trans?

Monday June 7th, I'll be at work all day, home around 4-5pm, but I can be flexible....I would really like to know what's going on. I took another 7.3 powerstroke owner on a ride and he thought it was wierd also, his doesn't shift like this. There were a few other things we noted as well.
