zf6-650 broke

hello. early 1999 with auto to manual trans conversion. was engine braking on long steep hill, in 2nd gear pulling heavy load when it made a loud noise and started shaking bad, thought broken driveshaft but no, shifted into n and shake / noise stopped but shifter would not go into any gear except 4, stopped but still would not shift except for 4&5 but after trying reverse it freed up and worked again, drove it home another 200 miles but i feel some gear clash going into 2nd and grinds some going into 4th, also makes bad noise whenever the throttle is lifted in all gears except 4th but if given light throttle or engage clutch its quiet. going to pull apart but any ideas what went bad? seems like it has to be on countershaft since 4th works ok. thanks

Re: zf6-650 broke

Just going to have to get it apart to see what all is bad.
Some bearings for sure.
