4r100 check ball question

I have burned the clutches up in my 4r100HD from ford so I pulled it out and going to do the rebuild my self. I've watched a ton of videos and read a lot and I'm confused if Ford ( or whoever built the trans) put an extra check ball in the valve body. I have 9 check balls NOT including the ball with the spring. Everything I've seen it's supposed to have 8. I could only find 1 google image of a trans with 9 but the link wouldn't take me anywhere. The check ball in question is in a "bathtub" about a inch towards the tail shaft from the 2 check balls that are usually the closest to the tailshaft. And also I have 5 check balls in the other part of the valve body, 2 large and 3 small. I thought it was only supposed to have 4. Any thoughts? Is this correct? What do I really have? Sorry I got long winded.

Re: 4r100 check ball question

I need to order some parts so I was hoping someone could tell me if this is correct for a 2001 4r100. Should I pull the 9th ball out?
